American Leak Detection has entered into a preferred partnership with the smart-technology firm Bluebot, a move that installs the company as the exclusive service provider for Bluebot’s ultrasonic pipe-monitoring devices across the United States. Under the terms of the agreement, American Leak Detection will manage the installation of devices sold online and retains the rights to resell and white-label the technology. The deal allows the firm to extend its commercial reach into customer segments previously beyond its technical or price-point requirements.

The hardware utilizes non-invasive ultrasonic sensors that clamp onto the exterior of existing pipes, requiring no plumbing modifications or pipe cutting. Compatible with more than 80 combinations of pipe sizes and materials, the system monitors water flow continuously to identify anomalies that may indicate hidden leaks. Data from these sensors is integrated directly into a nationwide operational platform, a move intended to strengthen diagnostic capabilities across the company’s 150 locations.

For the parent company, Water Intelligence, the partnership advances a broader strategy of transitioning from reactive emergency repairs toward a model of continuous, preventive maintenance. American Leak Detection already maintains contracts with major insurance providers and serves approximately 200,000 customers. Analysts suggest the Bluebot agreement fills a specific gap in the company’s portfolio, offering IoT monitoring for pipe diameters not covered by its existing alliance with StreamLabs.

Yet the expansion comes as US utilities grapple with significant infrastructure inefficiencies, with estimates suggesting that between 14 percent and 18 percent of treated water is lost before reaching the consumer. Property managers and insurers face increasing pressure to adopt active risk-management tools to mitigate such losses. By combining hardware analytics with a field-repair network, the company seeks to secure a dominant position in a market increasingly defined by digital oversight.

Water Intelligence recently reported 2025 revenues of $90.4 million, a 9 percent increase over the previous year, while adjusted EBITDA rose 15 percent to $16.5 million. Leadership indicated that they expect the Bluebot partnership to contribute to organic growth throughout 2026. As smart-water technology transitions from a premium addition to an operational standard, the integration of these systems could reshape how the industry addresses resource scarcity and infrastructure maintenance.
