Less Digging, More Fixing: A Smarter Pipe Play

Vortex's MaxLiner division becomes premier US distributor for Minicam's robotic cutting and UV curing systems for small-diameter pipe rehabilitation

A distribution agreement between Vortex Companies and Minicam aims to simplify how US contractors repair ageing underground water infrastructure, consolidating equipment, consumables and technical support under a single platform.

Announced in February 2026, the deal names Vortex's MaxLiner division as the primary US distributor for Minicam's Dancutter robotic cutting systems and Speedylight LED UV curing technology. The arrangement covers the full small-diameter rehabilitation workflow, from cleaning and inspection through lining, robotic reinstatement and sectional repair.

The partnership addresses a persistent problem for trenchless contractors: sourcing compatible tools and support from multiple vendors. MaxLiner will coordinate sales, service, training and technical assistance from its Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters and an Orlando, Florida service facility.

The Dancutter reopens service connections after cured-in-place pipe, or CIPP, lining, one of the most technically demanding steps in potable water main work. The Speedylight system uses LED ultraviolet technology to cure CIPP liners faster and more consistently than traditional steam or hot-water methods.

Water main breaks occur roughly every two minutes across the United States, and utilities face growing pressure from regulators and capital programmes to address deteriorating networks. Trenchless methods have become the preferred repair approach, reducing surface disruption and shortening project timelines relative to open-cut replacement.

Whether a consolidated supply model meaningfully accelerates delivery at scale remains to be seen. The backlog of needed repairs is substantial, and the pace at which municipalities can fund and procure rehabilitation work may prove a greater constraint than supply chain fragmentation alone.
